FACILITY INFORMATION The Vista camps are held in our two theaters in Downtown Vista - The BROADWAY and the OFF BROADWAY. The Broadway Theater is located directly behind Vista's Avo Playhouse on the quiet street of East Broadway—340 East Broadway. The Off Broadway is located at 131 Main Street in Vista - a block East of the Krikorian Theater. From the Broadway Theater the Off Broadway is one block east; one block north; and one block east. The two spaces are a stones throw from each other. Both facilities are 'working theaters' that stage LIVE performances year round.
VISTA CAMPS ENROLLMENT FEE We pride ourselves on our affordable camps. The cost of our camps are $240.00 per two week session—that’s less than $2.95 cents AN HOUR! This enrollment fee includes two snacks a day, two field trips a week; all crafts and supplies and your child's costume rental and cleaning. GREAT DEAL!! NO PARTIAL enrollments will be allowed because the first day of camp we cast the SHOW and the kids perform in that show the second Thursday or Friday of camp. ALL the VISTA DRAMA CAMPS will present their show on Vista's gorgeous AVO PLAYHOUSE STAGE.
WHAT DOES MY CHILD GET IN THE VISTA CAMPS? (Items vary from camp to camp)
* They get a speaking role in a full blown theatrical production, (If the camp you are registering for is doing a show) * A C.D. of orchestrated audition songs AND the sheet music to go with it. No more searching for a song when your child has an upcoming audition! * A black and white audition photo of your child suitable for any audition. * A completed costume design -- Done by your child. * A completed make-up design -- Done by your child * A completed set design -- Done by your child. * A certificate of participation. * THREE or FOUR field trips during the two weeks The Boomers field trip has become quite expensive with bus passes and entrance fee etc., and instead of passing this added money on to the parents in the registration fee we will only take one field trip the week we go to Boomers. We also take the campers to the Krikorkian Theater, Bar-be-que day, and LIVE Theater Performances, The TEEN CAMP will do a couple different camps geared to older kids. * We provide two Snacks every day one at 10:15 a.m. the other at 3:30 p.m. * Guest speakers and artists who will share their expertise in their particular area of theater. * A complimentary CAST PHOTO of their production. * We also supply the child with a COMPLETE costume on show day. Parents provide underclothing and footwear
AGES of PARTICIPANTS and STAFF To be a part of our REGULAR camps your child must be between the ages of 7 and 14 years AT THE TIME THEY ARE ENROLLED. To be a part of our TEEN CAMPS your child must be between the ages of 13 and 18 years. Camp Directors are PREMIERE FOR KIDS founders, Randall Hickman and Douglas Davis. Camp staff are 18 years and up and have been active within Hickman and Davis' program since they were kids. Our entire staff is made up of young men and women we know personally and who are pursing a career in the arts. All hourly staff members have been finger-printed. DAYS and TIMES of VISTA CAMPS ALL VISTA camps are two weeks long, (Monday through Friday), and run from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. (8:00 am. if a parent needs early drop off). If you require the EARLY DROP OFF option, the fee is an extra $5.00 a day and must be paid WHEN YOU REGISTER your child. We do not offer drop off any earlier than 8:00 a.m. Most parents use the EARLY DROP OFF option everyday, however, if you only need to utilize it on Wednesday's and Friday's we will be asking you in an email. This email will be sent 1 week before the start of every camp. The staff member who 'opens' the building will only allow children ON HIS or HER EARLY DROP OFF LIST to be dropped off before 8:45 a.m. The structured day, when the kids are working with Randall Hickman or Douglas Davis, is between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. You are more than welcome to drop your child off at 10:00 a.m. and pick them up at 4:00 p.m. After 4:00 p.m. the kids play games, watch movies and do crafts with our amazing counselors. While the structured time with the Director ends at 4:00 p.m., the camp remains open until 6:00 p.m. There is NO ADDITIONAL CHARGE if you pick up your child by 6:00 p.m. We provide this extra two hour buffer for you free of charge. However, there is a $1.00 per minute, per child, charge if you pick your child, (children), later than 6:10 p.m.. So, if you arrive at 6:20 p.m., there is a $10.00 charge, (per child), that must be paid BEFORE your child, (children), show up for the next day of camp. FACILITY INFORMATION The San Marcos camps are held in the San Marcos Community Center—2 Civic Center Drive in San Marcos. The facility boasts a HUGE main hall complete with fully equipped stage, lighting and sound equipment.

Enrollment fee includes one snack day, one field trip a week; all crafts and supplies and your child's costume rental and cleaning. Since the times the kids are with the directors is cut in half we need to spend more time working with the kids to assure that their production is a quality one. NO PARTIAL enrollments will be allowed because the first day of camp we cast the SHOW and the kids perform in that show the second Thursday or Friday of camp. ALL the San Marcos DRAMA CAMPS will present their show on the Hearth Theater Stage in San Marcos.

We also have a handful of JR. COUNCELORS ranging in age from 16 to 18 who assist the directors and councelors throughout the day. Our entire staff is made up of young men and women we know personally and who are pursing a career in the arts. Also, everyone on staff has been fingerprinted. DAYS and TIMES of SAN MARCOS CAMPS ALL SAN MARCOS camps are two weeks long, (Monday through Friday), yet they are only HALF DAY CAMPS. We created these camps because many parents are ‘stay and home’ and don’t need to place their child in a full day situation because of their work schedule but they want their child to have a fun, extra-curricular activity that doesn’t monopolize the child’s entire day. Camp will run from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. - Monday through Friday for two weeks, There is NO early drop off or late pick-up available for the San Marcos Camp The structured day, when the kids are working with director’s Randall Hickman or Douglas Davis, is 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. Got more questions? HALF DAY DRAMA CAMP #6: August 5th through 16th |

As I write this, the date is March 6th. In the 72 hours we have had our 2013 camps posted online we have had 75 registrations. This happened last year as well. Why does this happen? Because our camps offer the most field trips, the most crafts and the most fun for your dollar. If you haven’t registered your child as of yet you may want to do so ASAP. We don’t charge the full price to your credit card until 2 weeks prior to the start of camp. This year, (as it stated on the registration form), we are charging a non-refundable $25.00 ‘hold my slot’ fee. Why? Because parents registered early to get the camp they wanted and by the time the camp came around 3 months later they had planned vacations or it just couldn’t fit into their schedules. Consequently, we couldn’t fill the empty slots from our waiting lists because everyone was already doing something else. So be aware: 48 hours after you register for a camp, this non-refundable fee will be charged to your card and deducted from the total registration fee that will be charged 2 weeks prior to start of camp. |
