Drama Camps

In 2006 we began our Summer Drama Camp program!

That first year we staged three, two week camps. The camps were posted on the web site May 10th. By May 20th all three camps were full! Why? Because in our FULL DAY CAMPS we give the kids MORE field trips, (two per week); MORE crafts, (one everyday), and MORE fun than any other summer camp in North County. It also helps that we charge LESS than any other program. Shop around, you won’t find ANY OTHER CAMP that gives your child more for less. Co-owners Randall Hickman and Douglas Davis both come from very large families. They know, first hand, how hard it was for their parents to pay for extra-curricular activities. Your child’s extra-curricular activity should not break a working family’s budget. 

Registration for our SUMMER 2015 camps will be posted on March 1st - registration begins March 15th.

The Vista camps are held our downtown Vista theater - The BROADWAY.  The Broadway Theater is located directly behind Vista's Avo Playhouse on the quiet street of East Broadway—340 East Broadway.  We are across the street from the Yellow Deli



We pride ourselves on our affordable camps.  The cost of our camps are $260.00 per two week session.  That is less than $2.95 cents AN HOUR!  This enrollment fee includes two snacks a day, two field trips a week; all crafts and supplies and your child's costume rental and cleaning.  GREAT DEAL!!   NO PARTIAL enrollments will be allowed because the first day of camp we cast the SHOW and the kids perform in that show the second Thursday or Friday of camp. 

ALL the VISTA DRAMA CAMPS will present their show on Vista's gorgeous AVO PLAYHOUSE STAGE.

*   They get a speaking role in a full blown theatrical production, (If the camp you are registering for is doing a show)

*   A C.D. of orchestrated audition songs AND the sheet music to go with it.

      No more searching for a song when your child has an upcoming audition!

*   A black and white audition photo of your child suitable for any audition.

*   A completed costume design -- Done by your child.

*   A completed make-up design -- Done by your child

*   A completed set design -- Done by your child.

*   A certificate of participation.

*   THREE field trips during the two weeks   

*   We provide two Snacks every day one at 10:15 a.m. the other at 3:30 p.m.

*   Guest speakers and artists who will share their expertise in their particular area of theater.

*   A complimentary CAST PHOTO of their production.

*   We also supply the child with a COMPLETE costume on show day. 

     Parents provide underclothing and footwear



To be a part of our REGULAR camps your child must be between the ages of 7 and 14 years AT THE TIME THEY ARE ENROLLED.  To be a part of our TEEN CAMPS your child must be between the ages of 13 and 18 years.  

Camp Directors are PREMIERE FOR KIDS founders, Randall Hickman and Douglas Davis.  Camp staff are 18 years and up and have been active within Hickman and Davis' program since they were kids.  Our entire staff is made up of young men and women we know personally and who are pursing a career in the arts.   All hourly staff members have been finger-printed.  Our staff to kids ratio is one Director, and 2 staff members. To find out more about camp directors, Randall Hickman and Douglas Davis, as well as the assistant directors click HERE.



ALL VISTA camps are two weeks long, (Monday through Friday), and run from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. (8:00 am. if a parent needs early drop off). If you require the EARLY DROP OFF option, there is an extra fee of $5.00 a day and must be paid WHEN YOU REGISTER your child.  We do not offer drop off any earlier than 8:00 a.m.  Most parents use the EARLY DROP OFF option everyday, however, if you only need to utilize it on, let’s say, Wednesday's and Friday's we will be asking you in an email.  This email will be sent 1 week before the start of every camp.  The staff member who 'opens' the building will only allow children ON HIS or HER EARLY DROP OFF LIST to be dropped off before 8:45 a.m.  

 The structured day, when the kids are working with Randall Hickman or Douglas Davis, is between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. You are more than welcome to drop your child off at 10:00 a.m. and pick them up at 4:00 p.m.  After 4:00 p.m. the kids play games, watch movies and do crafts with our amazing counselors. While the structured time with the Director ends at 4:00 p.m., the camp remains open until 6:00 p.m. There is NO ADDITIONAL CHARGE if you pick up your child by 6:00 p.m.  We provide this extra two hour buffer for you free of charge.  However, there is a $1.00 per minute, per child, charge if you pick your child, (children), later than 6:10 p.m.. So, if you arrive at 6:20 p.m., there is a $10.00 charge, (per child), that must be paid BEFORE your child, (children), show up for the next day of camp.
